Mission and Vision

The mission of the Saskatchewan Science Centre is to ignite scientific curiosity and innovation in Saskatchewan communities through interactive, dynamic and engaging opportunities.

Our vision of the future, in fulfilling that mission is inspired minds through science and innovation.

Our Goals

In order to deliver on our mission and vision, the Saskatchewan Science Centre has adopted five key goals that guide our activities:

  1. Creating Dynamic Educational Programming
  2. Building Strong Customer Value
  3. Striving to be an Employer of Choice
  4. Fostering Community Collaboration
  5. Ensuring Secure Core Operations

Principal activities and programming

The Saskatchewan Science Centre presents an experience delivered in a variety of ways:

  • The Exhibit Floor – With permanent displays, travelling exhibits, high definition theatre and interactive demonstrations, the Powerhouse of Discovery provides a unique opportunity for individuals and families to learn while recreating in a safe, comfortable environment.
  • Kramer Imax Theatre – The only one of its kind in Saskatchewan, delivers educational and entertaining programming in the giant screen format.
  • Educational Programming - Educational and entertaining programs are delivered to students and communities all across Saskatchewan and to those who cannot come to the Science Centre through outreach programs to all four corners of the province
  • Ancillary Business Activities – the Saskatchewan Science Centre also manages: an on-site Gift Shop for educational science-related and general gift store products, leases out space for the provision of food services (Zest Restaurant); and manages facility rentals, which includes two boardrooms, the SaskTel Max Theatre and the Kramer IMAX facility.

Community Connectedness

The Saskatchewan Science Centre is a valuable public asset making significant contributions to the social and economic well being of the community and the province. It is first and foremost a catalyst for learning, but the Centre also provides considerable support to the community.

We do this by extending free memberships to a large number of community-based organizations whose clients would not be able to visit the Centre due to their socio-economic circumstances. Furthermore, through our own Discovery Fund, we subsidize the visits to the Centre of a significant number of students and classes from community and inner-city schools.

In addition, the Centre is a local and provincial showplace that exhibits and explains the scientific discoveries and contributions of Saskatchewan people and applications of technology that address Saskatchewan’s unique needs. Moreover, it makes science fun!

The Saskatchewan Science Centre is an important recreational amenity for people of all ages and an attractive diversion for tourists.

Examples of more recent social partnerships we’ve developed include:

  • Assist CanWest Global and the Leader-Post with the Christmas Cheer Fund
  • Sponsored programs for Community Schools & Organizations in partnership with City of Regina, SaskLotteries, IPSCO and SaskEnergy
  • Financial support to the E.Y.E.S. program and the Ehrlo Sport Venture Program
  • Continue to work with community non-profit organizations including: Canadian Juvenile Diabetes Association, KidSport, Regina Food Bank, Bell ‘Walk for Kids’, Canadian Cancer Society, MS Bike Tour, Friends of Wascana Marsh
  • We continue to engage students at First Nations reserves with the FSIN Summer Science Festivals annually.
