Fact Tuesday: the intelligence of crows

It’s Fact Tuesday, where I ask colleagues to tell me their favourite science fact. Alana, our brand new GO! science Outreach Explorer, told me that she is currently amazed at the intelligence of crows. We talked about how they can use tools, very complex tools, to get food.
I've heard about this too so I did a bit of research. And rather than telling you about what I found, I figured I'd show you this video instead. It's a video from TED, which is a small nonprofit devoted to ideas worth spreading. TED started out as a conference bringing together people from the areas of Technology, Entertainment, and Design. They now put videos of the best speakers online and call it TED Talks ("Riveting talks by remarkable people"), and I have to tell you they are amazing! TED Talks inspire me to no end.
So, having pitched TED Talks to you, have a look at this video. It's a 10 minute presentation by Joshua Klein on the intelligence of crows. As are all of the TED Talks I've seen, it's funny, inspiring, intriguing, and it definitely contains an idea worth spreading.
Stay curious,
Collette
