Grey Cup fun!

It's been long enough now for the pain to subside, so I guess I can talk about Grey Cup. Ha!
Well despite the disappointing last few seconds, we had a pretty fun evening here at the Science Centre for Grey Cup. We thought about opening up the Kramer IMAX Theatre to the public for the game, but instead it was decided to only invite staff, family, and friends to have a private party. I thought it was quite a nice gift to the staff -- I know I appreciated it. We've done a lot of events throughout the fall, and now staff are very busy with Christmas party season (we host a lot of parties!), so it was nice to not have to put together all of the logistics needed to put on a great public event.
Instead it was very casual. Everyone brought their own food and drink, and there was a lot of sharing going on which was great. I also enjoyed meeting some of my colleague's spouses, parents, and friends.
Everyone dressed in green as well, as you can see:
This was taken between quarters, so not everyone is paying attention to the screen! It was also pretty dark in there for pictures, so I didn't get too many great ones.
This one is not bad too:
That's Krystal from Visitor Services with a waving friend of hers. Everyone was in a happy, party, playful mood. So great!
I wish I'd gotten a picture of the inflatable helmet that Vandana, our new Director of Operations, brought. She was so cute! I did get a picture of the flag that Trevor, our Chief Projectionist, put above the projector:
You can't tell at all how GIANT the screen is from this last picture, but trust me when I say it was huge! I can't even get the entire screen in the shot.
The projected picture did not fill up the entire IMAX screen (not like it would with a true IMAX film), but it filled up probably 85% I'd say. I have to confess, I wondered what the quality would be like, and if watching the game on such a huge screen would be difficult. Trust me when I say, it was amazing!!! Amazing. I'd have no hesitation going to watch a sporting event on this screen again. It was not at all difficult to follow the action.
Seems like everyone had a lot of fun that day. I know my friends were beyond appreciative at getting the chance to watch such a fantastic game on such a giant screen. I don't have cable but I work at the Science Centre -- not a bad tradeoff!
Stay curious,
Collette
