New climbing wall!

I have a story for you.

Once upon a time we had a very cool climbing wall. All the kids and all the adults loved to climb on it. See how cool our climbing wall was? This is Science Explorer Maddie. She loves climbing!

Climbing wall again

But then one day our climbing wall said it needed to be redone. "Everyone has climbed my routes! They say they still love me, but I think I need a makeover."

So we brought in a very wise man to help Keir, our Human Physiologist and Sports Scientist, fix up the wall and make it happy again. Here they are, talking over their plan.

Wall reset

And all of the old holds were taken off the wall, and the wall cried, "But now I'm naked! And everyone can see how dirty I get when people put their hands and feet all over me!"

Empty climbing wall

And we said, "Don't worry, climbing wall! We'll put some holds back up!"And the very wise man did just that.

Putting holds on the wall

And after it was all done, two days of hard physical labour, there were new holds and new routes on the wall!

Finished wall

And the wall was happy. And Keir was happy. And all of the Science Explorers were happy. And everyone from Climbing 101 was happy. And everyone from the Climbing Club was happy too!

The end.

Personally? I'm SO EXCITED! I took Climbing 101 and loved it back in the fall, and I'm now in our Climbing Club. We meet Sunday evenings to climb, and I can't wait until this Sunday. Only three sleeps!

Stay curious,
Collette

Love the pictures!

Climbing club last night was really fun with the "sticky holds"* and new very challenging routes. Looking forward to next Sunday night to get back on it.

Thanks to Keir, Shayna, and Mark for showing up in such lousy weather! (stuck cars and all)

*holds that are clean/new with a coarse surface are easier to hold onto: more like real rock.
