Looking at upcoming exhibits

On Friday I was invited to join the programming team in deciding what we'll have for our next few visiting exhibits.

We all had differing viewpoints and areas of interest, so it was an energetic debate! I was most concerned about overall marketability, including what the exhibit will say about the Saskatchewan Science Centre. I have to admit I was also distracted by bright colours and the prospect for sheer fun! Other people were more concerned about the pure science behind the exhibits, and the potential for creating new workshops -- of course! That's why they are in programming and I am in marketing.

Some exhibits were old and dusty looking. Some looked amazing but might be too expensive for us to bring in. Some had ugly marketing materials but might actually be pretty neat exhibits. One exhibit that we looked at was actually just miserable, though. Old, creaky animatronics? No thanks! We can do better.

In the end, we settled on an exhibit for summer and one for the fall. But, I can't tell you what they are yet! John, our Director of Exhibits and Programming, has to confirm availability and details. If we get the exhibits as planned, I promise you all will be very happy!

In the meantime, as far as visiting exhibits are concerned we still have 100 Years: A Countdown to Life here for your viewing pleasure, Germs! Germs! Germs! will replace that in less than two weeks, and at the end of January we'll have K'NEX Building Thrill Rides.

Do you have a favourite visiting exhibit from past years? Don't be shy - I know there are tons of people who read this blog - let me know! It could help us plan for the future as well.

Stay curious,
Collette
