Climbing 101 – Beginners Climbing Course for Adults, October 30 - December 18, 2010
Drop-in climbing times are a great introduction, but Climbing 101 gives you more time on our climbing wall allowing you to learn some more in-depth climbing skills.
This is a beginners course -- no experience necessary.
Learn some basic movement techniques, how to belay with a variety of belay devices, plus receive an introduction to rappelling and ascending.
At the completion of the course, you will be at a level where you can take your new skills, walk into any climbing gym in the country, and successfully challenge (pass) the belay check allowing you to climb without an instructor.
This class teaches the basics of Indoor Climbing but is a good starting point if you’re interested in eventually progressing to learning the skills for outdoor climbing. The Saskatchewan Science Centre doesn’t offer outdoor climbing courses, but we can put you in touch with organizations that can.
Those who have completed Climbing 101 may move on to join our Climbing Club, which climbs Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
