April is Earth Month - presented by The Co-operators

Celebrated every April 22, Earth Day is the largest, most celebrated environmental event worldwide. In April we will celebrate everything about our earth – how we live on it, what else lives on it and how, and what everybody can do to take care of it – now and for the future.
Earth Month activities include:
- Feature Stage Show – Superheroes of Sustainability presented daily
- A giant colouring wall (pictured above)
- Weekly challenges for visitors
- All Family Friendly 2pm Activities feature themed nature walks in Wascana Park
- Environmental programs showing daily in the SaskTel MAX Theatre
- Earth month facts all over the Science Centre for visitor scavenger hunts
- Bird identification cards for guests to take home of the birds of Wascana Marsh and Bird Sanctuary near the bird viewing station in WILD! Saskatchewan
- Join in the fun as we release the Big Brown Bats that were rescued over the winter
- Animal presentations – a unique chance to meet and learn about endangered and extirpated local species.
- Experiments and environmental themed workshops
Saturday, April 24 - Sunday, April 25
The Model Engineer Group will have a display on this weekend outside and in the SaskPower Lobby (our main entrance).
Outside: enjoy cookies from their solar oven from 12 to 2pm and check out the solar heater panel and photovoltaic panel outside the main doors.
Inside: they will have displays on sterling engines, planning and building an electric car, future energy possibilities (getting methane gas from sewage), solar heaters, a sustainable energy video and a table showing off the projects they have made.

Fun Fact
Turkey
vultures search for food using smell, a practice that is not common among
birds. As long as they can smell
carrion, they can locate it even if they cannot see it.
