Welcome Teachers!

At the Saskatchewan Science Centre, we strive to engage our visitors in the discovery of science and to aid their understanding of concepts that go beyond the theories. Through hands-on school programs, such as our school workshops, students will have the opportunity to learn science concepts that follow curriculum standards, as well as learn skills that relate to other subjects. The innovative exhibits, workshops, and IMAX films can fulfill science curriculum outcomes and the Broad Areas of Learning.

Science Centre Exhibit Floor

The Saskatchewan science Centre contains more than 180 interactive permanent exhibits designed to entertain, educate, and delight kids of all ages. Even seemingly simple interactives often have multiple levels of engagement: what seems like a fun game for a 6 year old also teaches important science principles to 12 and 16 year olds!

With a focus on showcasing science through the lens of Saskatchewan, exhibits such as Richardson Ag-grow-land, Wild! Saskatchewan, and Building Connections support the teaching you are currently doing in the classroom while encouraging children to explore and learn science concepts on their own terms.

We are also a licensed zoo facility, and have a variety of animals in our care, including Saskatchewan animals such as the Great Horned Owl and Tiger Salamanders.

Check out our Teacher Resources page for more information and for companion guides and lesson plans based on our exhibits.

Workshops

Science Centre workshops are hands-on demonstrations that are connected directly to the current Saskatchewan science curriculum. These workshops complement the work that you are currently doing in the classroom to promote student learning. Our workshops use inquiry learning techniques and are developed with input from the Ministry of Education and with feedback from practicing teachers.

IMAX Films

The Kramer IMAX Theatre primarily shows high-quality IMAX documentary films. These films are chosen not only to appeal to a broad public audience, but also to support the educational efforts of teachers in the province. School groups receive deeply discounted prices from public rates.
