Adult Science Night - Darkness

  • Saskatchewan Science Centre 2903 Powerhouse Drive Regina, SK, S4N 0A1 Canada (map)

The Science Centre - only for adults! Explore advanced programming and our exhibit floor with your adult friends and access to a cash bar!

Are you afraid of the dark? Explore the fearsome physics of Dark Matter and Dark Energy with our special guest, and try out some eldritch shadow play with our spooky silhouette box. Make sure you’ve built a lamp to light your way, and then test your skills in the dark, dark scavenger hunt.

Sensing the Dark

Join our special guest Dr. Nikolay Kolev to learn about dark matter theory, and try our experiment to measure the mass of matter that you can’t see.

Dark, Dark Scavenger Hunt

How do physicists discover things that emit no light? Using only lights that they create themselves, guests must navigate in the dark to find (suspiciously pumpkin shaped) dark matter and dark energy (that smells strangely like coffee).

What if the lights go out?

Can you build an ‘organic’ flashlight to help light your way around the Dark Dark Scavenger Hunt? No batteries allowed!

In The Absence of Light

Play Science Charades with our giant shadow boxes and learn more about some famous physicists.

All attendees must bring photo ID and be 19 years old or older.
