About Us
The Saskatchewan Science Centre is a non-profit, non-governmental educational organization dedicated to igniting scientific curiosity and discovery across Saskatchewan. Through interactive, dynamic, and engaging experiences, we inspire people of all ages to explore science, technology, and innovation while fostering a lifelong love of learning.
Since opening our doors in 1989, we’ve welcomed millions of visitors, making us one of Saskatchewan’s premier family attractions. Located in the heart of beautiful Wascana Park at 2903 Powerhouse Drive in Regina, we’re proud to serve our community year-round as a place where curiosity comes to life.
Where It All Began
Our story began in 1978 with a small group of concerned individuals, who believed that there was a critical need to increase public awareness and understanding of science and technology. They proposed a participatory museum that “is rich in experience and to this end can stimulate and augment learning of the traditional classroom by demonstrating the phenomenology implicit in the textbooks.”
The creation of a participatory Saskatchewan Science Centre was first proposed as a project by the Junior Service League of Regina. The group approach Saskatchewan Power Corporation (SaskPower) proposing that a science centre be incorporated into the old city powerhouse building. The use of the powerhouse for the proposed science centre was approved by the SaskPower board of directors and the provincial cabinet.
