Three exhibitions bring art, stories, and culture to life at the MacKenzie Art Gallery. Death Boat and Other Stories explores transformation in Indigenous art, featuring works from the MacKenzie’s largest-ever donation of Indigenous and Inuit pieces. Indian Theater: Native Performance, Art, and Self-Determination since 1969 showcases more than 100 works by Indigenous artists, celebrating theatre and performance as tools for cultural expression and resistance. In the Learning Centre, Patrick Fernandez: Dancing in the Rhythm of the Waves invites visitors into a vibrant, interactive space inspired by Filipino festivals, where everyone can contribute to the artwork.

Families can join in creative and accessible activities each week. Art Engagement Saturday offers drop-in gallery tours with friendly guides weekly from 1:00–4:00pm. On Sundays from 1:00–3:00pm, Weekly We Make opens the studio for hands-on artmaking; the upcoming “Write Big” session invites all ages to create a “visual manifesto” of their ideas and dreams, using collage and drawing to make their voices seen.
