Using AI to Predict Disease Outbreaks

Join Dr. Affan Shoukat as he discusses how integrating artificial intelligence with established epidemiological principles enables us to derive meaningful insights from noisy and non-traditional epidemiological data, such as wastewater, social media, and mobility patterns, to better predict outbreaks, develop early warning systems, and guide public health decisions.
Participants will enjoy a 45-minute presentation, followed by time for questions, discussion, and reflection in a relaxed, welcoming environment. As with all Science Connections sessions, the morning also includes time to explore the Science Centre’s exhibit floor, and complimentary coffee and snacks courtesy of Heartland Senior Consulting.
