Experience an evening of transformative inspiration at Girls Night Out: A Go! Code: Girls Event, hosted by the Saskatchewan Science Centre. This event invites girls aged 11 to 16 to dive into the world of coding, offering a chance to learn, connect, and create. From discovering the foundations of coding to getting a sneak peek into different types of careers in tech, participants of all skill levels will find their place. Engage with remarkable women making waves in STEAM fields, absorb their insights, and kindle your own aspirations.


Cost: FREE

Girls Night Out is FREE for all who attend; however, there are a limited number of tickets available.

Please note: Chaperones are not required, but to ensure there is enough space for all of the provided activities, we recommend that no more than one (1) chaperone accompany each student.


Speakers

Paige Sandvold

Marketing Manager, DirectWest

Paige, originally from Saskatchewan, attended Brown University on a Division 1 hockey scholarship, earning a Bachelor of Administration in Commerce, Organizations, and Entrepreneurship. She began her digital career at Directwest in 2016 as a Digital Platforms Product Consultant, primarily working on the Mysask411 Team. Later, she became the Marketing Manager of Content and eventually took on her current role as Marketing Manager of Digital Content & Platforms. Paige now oversees Directwest's B2B and B2C websites, social media platforms, and two product lines. Outside of work, she lives on an acreage near Lumsden with her husband and two sons, actively contributing to the community through her summer kids program, coaching U13AA female hockey, and offering Mindset and Emotional Skill Sessions through her business, PS Coaching Inc.

Tori Sambrook

Software Developer, FCC

Tori is a Software Developer at Farm Credit Canada in Regina. During her time at the University of Regina, Tori found a passion for problem solving and growing her technical skills. Her experiences of working on tech projects, teaching laboratory courses, working in the tech startup sector, and acting in her current role has shown her how the industry offers a variety of opportunities and is always evolving. This inspires Tori as she can continue learning, being creative, and expanding upon her skills. 

Taylor Fox

Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, memory KPR 

Taylor is a tech enthusiast with a deep love for startups. By day, she's a software developer at Ethena, but her passion doesn't stop there. In her dual role as co-founder and CTO of memoryKPR, she thrives as a leader and mentor in the tech world. Beyond the computer screen, Taylor enjoys listening to a good book and honing her sewing skills with every creation.

Generative AI Activity - Provided by Direct West

  • Explore generative AI by creating images based on the prompts you provide!

Coding Activity - Provided by EYES

  • Learn about the digestive system using Ozobots, and try out some Retro MakeCode Arcades

Coding Activity - Provided by Nanan Academy

  • Experience Scratch Coding and play with M-Bots and Edison Bots

Balloon Pop Robot Battles

  • Battle your friends using tablet-controlled rovers and try to pop their balloons!
