Space Debris: What Goes Up Doesn’t Always Stay Up
Wednesday, July 15 | 9:30 am–11:00 am
Join us for an engaging Science Connections session featuring Dr. Samantha Lawler, astronomer and space sustainability researcher at the University of Regina, for a fascinating look at the growing problem of space junk. From discarded rocket parts and defunct satellites to debris that has already fallen on Saskatchewan farmland, discover how our increasingly crowded skies are creating new risks for people, the environment, and the future of space exploration.
Participants will enjoy a 45-minute presentation, followed by time for questions, discussion, and reflection in a relaxed, welcoming environment. As with all Science Connections sessions, the morning also includes time to explore the Science Centre’s exhibit floor, and complimentary Caliber Coffee.
This session is designed to be informative, engaging, and confidence-building – perfect for curious minds interested in science, energy, and the future of innovation.
